Both of these teams are 1-2 on the year and I don’t think this game will get much interest outside of Tennessee and Atlanta. But that doesn’t mean we want to ignore it. I see betting value on it. The Titans opened the season with a surprising blowout win over Cleveland, winning their opener 43-13. They dropped their next two, however, scoring only 24 points in the process. Atlanta has given up a lot of points, also losing to Indianapolis and Minnesota. Tennessee is playing very well on defense again under second-year coach Mike Vrabel, at sixth in yards allowed, third in pass defense, and eighth in points surrendered (17.3 per game). Atlanta is banged up and their QB is looking old. Safety Keanu Neal is done for the year and eight starters, including wide receiver Calvin Ridley (hip), are on the injury report. Matt Ryan has been pedestrian, ranking in the middle of the league in my ratings. The Falcons are just 3-8 against the number in their last 11 games dating back to last season and they are 2-7 ATS against losing teams. Atlanta is off a 27-24 loss at the Colts and the team is 4-17 ATS after allowing 250+ yards passing in their previous game. They are also 0-9 ATS the past two and a half seasons in non-conference games. In the Dan Quinn era, the Falcons are 4-14 ATS vs. AFC opponents. Meanwhile the Titans are 53-29 ATS in non-conference games. Grab the points and take Tennessee.
