Seattle at Los Angeles

Seattle has a chip on its shoulder after many have predicted a losing season. This team plays hard for coach Pete Carroll, even in preseason, on a 9-2 SU/ATS run in August. The defense has allowed 19, 13, 13, 13, 17, 16, 18, 17, 21, 15 and 21 points its last 11 NFL preseason contests (an average of 16.6 points per game). Even in losing last week to the Colts, 19-17, the defense allowed 189 yards passing, 76 rushing, just 2.3 yards per carry. Seattle has had an extra day to practice as Los Angeles had to play Saturday, losing 24-17 at Arizona. 36-year-old QB Philip Rivers didn't play and won't see a lot time here, while the backups are either awful or inexperienced in Geno Smith, Cardale Jones and rookie Nic Shimonek. Last preseason Seattle won at the Chargers, 48-17, despite QB Russell Wilson only throwing four passes. The Seattle offense had 325 yards passing, 133 rushing, while the defense forced four Los Angeles turnovers. Play the points and go with Seattle.
