San Francisco at Los Angeles

San Diego had several chances to put points on the board in its 23-10 loss at Minnesota, but the Chargers couldn't deliver and finished with a scoreless second half. Philip Rivers was just five-of-nine for 54 yards and an interception and running back Branden Oliver suffered an Achilles injury that will probably end his season. Kellen Clemens was 9-of-15 for 77 yards, and rookie Mike Bercovici was 4-of-12 for 67 yards with two picks. San Diego coach Mike McCoy is 6-9 straight-up in preseason action, including 1-2 this year. The Chargers lost at San Francisco 14-12 last season in preseason Week 4.  The 49ers must be looking forward to getting back on the field as they deal with the Colin Kaepernick controversy. The 49ers quarterbacks still have incentive to show what they can do as Blaine Gabbert played sparingly against Green Bay, completing just two-of-three passes for 14 yards while Jeff Driskel was four-of-eight for 43 yards. McCoy has no reason to risk playing Rivers much, if at all. Grab the points and play the 49ers.
