The 49ers have a new Coach in Jim Harbaugh and come off an embarrassing home loss to the Texans. It was unusual in that Harbaugh was unorthodox, playing the starters for only three series because he wanted to get a look at the reserves, who were blistered by the Houston starters. He did that because he wants to see more of the starters in week four. "It's a bitter pill to swallow when you're beat that thoroughly, in pretty much all phases," Harbaugh said. "I'm not going to single anybody out. The players will hear it from us." Tackle Joe Staley said, "We watched the film this morning, and we were very disgusted with what we saw on the offensive line." Center/guard Adam Snyder added, "I have nothing to say." This San Diego defense has some depth concerns as Larry English and Shaun Phillips have gotten run over and run around. The Cardinals ran 16 times last week for 125 yards in the first three quarters, and there are offensive line concerns: Tyronne Green may be in a competition to start at right guard, but he is perhaps more valuable to the Chargers as a utility player. Starter Marcus McNeill continues to rehabilitate his surgically repaired knee and Brandyn Dombrowski was nursing sore knees. The 49ers have ample motivation and will have more starters for their new coach than San Diego. Play on the 49ers.
