San Francisco at Kansas City

The San Francisco 49ers made a gallant effort at home vs. the Saints on Monday night, but in the end fell short by a field goal. They used a lot of energy in that game, especially on the defensive side of the ball. While this Niners defense was supposed to be stout, so far we have seen anything but. They allowed 25 points last week after giving up 31 to a Seattle team that simply isn't very good offensively the week prior. Now they take to the road and it will be tough for them to get the adrenaline running again on the defensive side of the ball vs. the Chiefs. Kansas City somehow delivers better results at home than the sum of the parts as last year they scored 34 here on Cleveland, 27 on Pittsburgh and 20 on Dallas. They also got 21 vs. San Diego in the opener. So by hook or by crook, the Chiefs seem to find a way to score at home. The Niners offense came into its own last week behind Alex Smith who tossed for 275 yards and old reliable Frank Gore churned out 112 yards, as the Niners went for over 400 yards on the Saints. The Chiefs at home have now played just three of their last fifteen to the under when posted as a home dog, as they find ways to manufacture points. I like the OVER in this one.
