Philadelphia lost backup QB Carson Wentz, their top draft pick, so that means more time for Chase Daniel and McLeod Bethel-Thompson. Coach Doug Pederson is desperate to find more wideouts who fit his system and just traded for WR Dorial Green-Beckham (Titans) this week. The push for wide receiver talent was exacerbated by a less-than-encouraging preseason opener. The team had hoped that former Giants second-round pick Rueben Randle would finally hit his stride as an Eagle, but there were few indications of a turnaround against Tampa Bay. At the moment, Jordan Matthews was the only reliable set of hands on the roster and he's currently sidelined with a knee injury. Nelson Agholor, the team's 2015 first-round pick, still has a long way to go. Pittsburgh has a fine August QB rotation with Big Ben, Landry Jones and Bruce Gradkowski. They are off a poor performance at home and Mike Tomlin is a no-nonsense coach who is demanding a better effort. The Steelers also rested key offensive players in their preseason opener including Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams. After an August loss to Jacksonville a season ago, the Steelers played much better at home, beating Green Bay 24-19. In that game the QBs combined to go 24-of-38 for 270 yards and three TDs while the defense allowed 200 total yards with six sacks. Look for a big bounce-back effort by the talented Steelers in their final home preseason contest. Back Pittsburgh.
