Philadelphia at Buffalo

The Eagles were self-anointed in the off-season as the "Dream Team." That dream has more resembled a nightmare as they have stumbled out of the gate at 1-3. The Eagles were coasting along last week with a 23-3 lead over the Niners, with Michael Vick throwing for 416 yards, and it wasn't enough as their defense melted away the lead, saddling them with their third loss in a disappointing 24-23 setback. The meltdown wasn't new but rather Deja-vu as Philadelphia has now been outscored in the fourth quarter 36-0 in their three losses! As much as their skill positions are great, and they have very solid pass defenders, the interior of their defense is very soft and that makes winning in the NFL extremely hard. The Bills have displayed just the opposite traits, with huge comeback wins vs. Oakland and New England. Fred Jackson has been outstanding, averaging 129 yards per game. Given Philly's soft front and #30 ranking vs. the run, I expect the Bills to put it on the ground and keep the high-powered Eagles off the field. It should set up play action for a maturing Ryan Fitzpatrick to get a few big strikes. The Eagles’ meltdowns are not comforting, as Fitzpatrick has a 123.6 passer rating in the second half of games and the Bills will be tough at home and out to right the ship after a dissapointing upset loss last week. The wrong team is favored here. Take the points and play on Buffalo.
