The pressure was on New York coach Brian Daboll last year as a newcomer and his team overachieved in making the playoffs. They even impressed in preseason winning two of three. However, Daboll doesn't have to prove himself this August and is focused more on keeping personnel healthy. For Week 1, QBs Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito will run the offense, the latter an undrafted free agent. Daboll can't risk an injury to quarterback Daniel Jones after giving him a four-year, $160 million contract extension this offseason. Third-year Detroit coach Dan Campbell also impressed last season taking the Lions to a winning season with one of the best offenses in the NFL. There will be competition to impress even in the preseason for the defense after bringing in four new starters, along with competition at QB with backups Nate Sudfeld and rookies Hendon Hooker/Adrian Martinez fighting for jobs. Play the Detroit Lions.
