The Chargers rushed for a paltry 37 yards on 2.2 yards per carry in last Sunday's loss at Indianapolis. Melvin Gordon was held to 35 rushing yards on 16 carries. San Diego is suffering from injuries to key players such as tight end Antonio Gates, wide receiver Keenan Allen, running back Danny Woodhead and linebacker Manti Te'o. The Chargers are 3-11 ATS their last 14 home games. The fact the Saints are playing on a short week could be a good thing as they have covered the spread in six of their last seven Sundays after playing on Monday night. Drew Brees will play his first game in Qualcomm Stadium since he suffered a severe shoulder injury while playing for the Chargers in 2005. Expect him to be sharp. Brees was 36-of-54 for 376 yards with an interception against the Falcons on Monday and the Saints averaged five yards per carry with Mark Ingram gaining 77 yards on 15 carries. The Saints have gone UNDER the posted total in their last four road games and the Chargers have gone UNDER their last five home games dating to last season. New Orleans lost close games to Oakland and the New York Giants and will keep this one close also. The Chargers couldn't pull out a win against a banged-up Colts defense that was coming off a bruising loss at Denver. San Diego is also 1-7 ATS against NFC South teams. Take the Saints and the UNDER.
