New Orleans at Los Angeles

This is a high NFL Week 3 preseason total and it's hard to see why. The young New Orleans defense has plenty to prove, even in August. They opened with a win at Jacksonville as the defense shined, allowing 2.8 yards per rush and getting six sacks. Last week they held Arizona to 65 yards rushing, 2.5 yards per carry, and 266 total yards. Opponents are just 11-of-26 on third down. QB Drew Brees will start after missing last week and the Saints won last year's Week 3 preseason game by 13 points as Brees was 11-of-15 passing. They face a Los Angeles Chargers team that has dealt with a lot of preseason injuries, including Joey Bosa and DT Justin Jones. Jones (ankle) has missed both preseason battles and the team has not looked great on the defensive line. The Chargers have gone to the ground game a lot this August, with 273 yards rushing in two contests, but this New Orleans D-line is playing great against the run. And the QB rotation after veteran Philip Rivers is not good with Geno Smith and Cardale Jones. New Orleans has better balance and depth, on a 6-3 run UNDER the total in August, while Coach Sean Payton is 9-3 straight-up in Week 3 of preseason.
