It has been a disastrous season for the Minnesota Vikings, coming into this one with an ugly 2-12 mark on the season. They have dropped six straight games, allowing 35.2 points per game in the process. Regardless of how ugly, the picture on the other side with the Redskins is not much prettier. The Skins come in just 5-9 on the season, and at home they have managed to put just two of seven in the win column. They are off a division rivalry game where they put everything on the table and beat the Giants and it would not surprise me to see them flat here. They aren't playing for anything meaningful and they have no reason to get excited for the lowly Vikings. It has been the case with this team for quite some time as Washington is now 0-14 ATS as a home favorite off a win when facing a losing team. This is a team that has been posted as an underdog in 10 straight games, and they have been favored in just three of their last 30. You have to back to mid-October of 2009 (over 40 games ago) to find the last time they have been favored by this much! For the record, the last four times they have been a favorite of -6 or more they are 0-4 ATS and 1-3 straight-up. Mike Shanahan coached teams have a long history of laying down vs. really bad teams. He is 8-20 ATS when facing teams at .250 or worse. Minnesota may have lost six in a row, but all six have been against .500 or better teams. They are 2-8 in their last 10 games, but the two wins are both vs. losing teams. The eight losses were all against .500 or better teams. This is a serious overlay, so play on Minnesota.
