Minnesota at Detroit

The Vikings defeated the Lions 26-16 back in week two. There were not too many people surprised by that outcome. After all, the Vikings own a 21-6 straight-up record at home vs. the Lions in their last 27 meetings, including 19-4 as a favorite. The win was the Vikings 14th straight at home vs. Detroit. The expectation by oddsmakers and the public is that the Vikings will do it again here. The problem is that the home field, and revenge are great equalizers. Despite their domination of the Lions at home, Minnesota has dropped four of their last five in Detroit and Minnesota has only covered 23 of their last 63 games as road chalk. The Lions posted 34 points in two of those games vs. the Vikings, and I think this one is going to be higher scoring than the first meeting. The Lions finally got into the win column, scoring 37 points vs. Chicago at home last week. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 770 yards the past two weeks, after not topping the 300 mark in his first four games, and appears to be shaking off a bad start. The Lions may be 1-5, but the only game they truly have not been competitive in was against Arizona where they turned the ball over six times. Detroit has played four straight games OVER the total after allowing more than 350 yards in their previous game. Detroit has found the offense as they have generated just short of 1,000 total yards in their last two games. Take Detroit and the OVER.
