Los Angeles at San Francisco

The Los Angeles Chargers started the preseason with two unimpressive performances before beating their now cross-city rival Rams 21-19 on Saturday.  The Chargers stayed UNDER for the second game in a row as they scored all their points in the first quarter. That doesn't bode well for the offense in this game as the starters aren't likely to play much, if at all. Philip Rivers was 6-of-6 for 85 yards, Cardale Jones went 9-of-13 for 74 yards and Mike Bercovici finished 5-of-9 for 62 yards. Jones probably will get the bulk of the playing time on Thursday as he's being described as a "work in progress." He did better playing behind the first-team offensive line, but the starters don't figure to play much in this one. The Chargers have gone UNDER in seven of their last 11 preseason contests. San Francisco lost on the final play against the Vikings last week and plans to rest nearly all its starters as it needs to evaluate many players before roster cuts. Brian Hoyer was 12-of-17 for 176 yards against Minnesota and C.J. Beathard went 7-of-13 for 159 yards with an interception while Matt Barkley completed two passes for 19 yards. Take the UNDER.
