The San Diego Chargers have a 1-3 record, but they are not playing that badly with a +13 scoring differential. The only teams better in the AFC in that statistical category are the Broncos, Patriots and Steelers. QB Philip Rivers (seven TDs, one INT) is throwing great, leading an offense that is #13 in yards, and eighth in passing. Chargers' top pick, defensive end Joey Bosa, is back at practice and will play. The Chargers have covered seven of their last eight road games and face an Oakland Raiders defense that is last in the NFL, allowing a whopping 460 yards per game. That is 37.2 more yards than the next worst team (Saints). Oakland is 3-8 ATS against a team with a losing record, plus 8-22-1 ATS when following a spread win. They come home from a difficult two-game stretch, playing the last two contests on the East Coast. Oakland's run defense is second worst in the NFL, surrendering 134.5 yards per game, while the pass defense is last in allowing 325.5 yards per game. The Raiders are 7-15-1 ATS after a victory. This AFC West rivalry series has been about the underdog, with the dog 13-3 ATS. The Chargers are also 9-4 ATS at Oakland. That bad Oakland defense was a favorite in their last home game, but they lost 35-28 to the Falcons allowing 396 yards passing and 139 rushing. The wagering value is on the undervalued dog to pull the upset in this divisional battle. Play San Diego on the moneyline.
