They went from the highest scoring team in the league at 31.2 points per game in the regular season to 14th in the league this year, down 7.5 points per game this season. They have faced a difficult schedule, with just two opponents out of the playoff picture. Their problems run deep as Cam Newton was benched at the start of the last game for a dress code violation, and when he got into the game he seemed disinterested. And at 4-8, that may again be the case here vs. San Diego. Defensively, the biggest difference maker for the Panthers, Luke Kuechly, looks like he returns here. The Chargers have some problems of their own on offense, seeing a decline in yards and points in three straight games, and seven turnovers in the span have not helped.
