Las Vegas at New York

Three weeks ago the New York Jets were at 5-4 and looking like a team turning the corner. They then ran into QB problems, and not enough skill-position players have left the offense out in the cold, leading to three straight losses. The now 5-7 Jets have their playoffs hopes on life support. Making matters worse is a defense that has allowed over 29 points per game over their last six. And for a team that has not found the end-zone in each of their last two games, they have a lot of work to do - and not a lot of talent with which to do. Geno Smith has thrown eight touchdowns compared to 25 turnovers on the season. The Jets have averaged just 15.7 points per game this season (6.7 per game over their last three). On average this team has lost games by double-digits. The Raiders are right there, but can't get over the top. They have had leads in the second half of five games they ultimately lost, and last week in Dallas was just another example. The difference here is that the Jets are just not competent enough on either side of the ball right now to become the sixth. The Raiders are 5-0 ATS following a loss, while the Jets are 0-5 ATS at home in their last five vs. a team with a losing road record. New York, despite a reputation as a defensive team, have really struggled vs. teams like Oakland that can run the ball. New york is just 3-14 ATS in the Rex Ryan era vs. teams like the Raiders that average 4.5+ yards per carry. the Jets are also 1-8 ATS dating back to last season when coming off a division game. The Jets should not be favorites right now to anyone. Back the Raiders.
