Oakland was strong in rushing the football last season (#12) and has upgraded the passing offense with an experienced QB rotation. QBs Trent Edwards, Matt McGloin, rookie Derek Carr, plus newcomer Matt Schaub (who has plenty to prove after a disaster in Houston) are ready to go. The rookie, Carr, has quickly grasped the playbook. The staff is eager to see how he does against a live pass rush starting Friday in Minnesota. Camp has gone well for the whole team, and there have been no significant injuries. Oakland has plenty to prove and played well in last year's preseason opener, a 19-17 win over Dallas. Minnesota is in complete overhaul mode under new coach Mike Zimmer. He wants to get a good look at QB Tedy Bridgewater, a rookie, and the defense has new pieces everywhere. The Vikings have been a weak preseason team, going 1-3 SU/ATS the last year, and were routed in the opener against Houston at home 27-13. Schaub was the Houston starter, too, riddling the Vikings secondary (5-for-5), and as a team Houston competed 31 passes and totaled 439 yards! Take the points and play the Raiders.
