Las Vegas upgraded the defense in the offseason with safety Marcus Epps, LB Robert Spillane, and cornerback Brandon Facyson, plus drafting defensive end Tyree Wilson. The defense looked much-improved last week allowing 7 points and 283 yards in a win over the 49ers. They held the San Francisco offense to 2-of-10 on third down. Las Vegas has a new-look offense behind QBs Jimmy Garoppolo and Brian Hoyer. The offense had just 266 total yards in the opener. Los Angeles doesn't show anything offensively during the preseason with this coaching staff. That was the case again last week, scoring 17 points with 263 yards in a loss to the Chargers. They need to keep veteran QB Matt Stafford healthy, so the backups are Stetson Bennett, Brett Rypien, and Dresser Winn. The Rams scored 27 total points in Weeks 2 and 3 of NFLX last August, while in three 2021 preseason games, the offense averaged just 11 points.
