In the Super Bowl, place kickers are not used as much as they are in the regular season or even in other playoff games. Teams want to score touchdowns. And they certainly don't want to kick long field goals. Out of 56 Super Bowls, there have only been 16 games with field goals of 45+ yards (29%). Fair odds on that bet are -245. And, that's based on 45 yards, not 47.5. In addition, has this changed recently? Maybe with the recent rule changes that favor the offense, this percentage has gone up? Actually, it's just the opposite. Over the past 18 Super Bowls, only four have seen a field goal made at 48+ yards. Since Super Bowl 42, 13 of 16 Super Bowls have had the longest field goal come in UNDER 48 yards. We have about a 70%-80% chance of this bet coming through based on Super Bowl history. Take the UNDER on this prop as a Max Play.
