There isn't a lot to love about the Kansas City Chiefs right now. Last year they surprised everyone by getting off to a fast start and made the playoffs. Things look a bit different through the first two games of this season as the 2-0 start last year has been reversed to 0-2 this year. Am I suprised? No. I made them a Best Bet in my Season Win Predictions to finish UNDER 8 wins. They over-performed last season and weren't that good. Now the reality is showing. However, they have really fallen hard quickly. They have lost their two games by a combined score of 89-10. So why back them? The pendulum has swung. When a team is in as dire-straights as KC is, it's time to back them. This line is huge and I think KC finds a way to hang under it. The Chargers look like the team they were last season: talent all over the field, but self-destructing, turning wins into losses. They opened the season where they left off a year ago, with Minnesota taking the opening kickoff to the house. They had to scramble all game long, dodging their own mistakes to squeeze out a win in the end. Last week New England beat them soundly. It has been four years since the Chargers have started a season playing at or over the level of their talent. Last year the bell never rang. On paper, the Chargers are good team and should be better than a two-TD favorite against a team like the Chiefs. But, I suspect they will find a way to keep KC in the game. And, I expect a much better effort from the Chiefs this week. Their manhood has been challenged and they have been smacked down so hard, that I expect them to respond this week and maybe surprise a few people. The Chiefs have risen to the occasion as an underdog of more than 10 points going 10-2 ATS in their last 12. They are also 21-7 ATS in their last 28 road games following a double-digit loss.
