The Houston Texans have a lot of talent but wound up in last place last year because of injuries. There's a lot to prove and still a slew of talent. Four new full-time starters are aboard to fix the offensive line issues, and the QB rotation for preseason is impressive with Deshaun Watson, Joe Webb and Brandon Weeden. The quarterbacks have the fastest trio of NFL wideouts to throw to in DeAndre Hopkins (1,378 yards), Will Fuller and newcomer Sammie Coates. They face a Kansas City West Coast offense that likes to run, but the Houston's defense was strong against the run last year, despite numerous injuries, and brings back NT D.J. Reader, DE Christian Covington, J.J. Watt, Whitney Mercilus and former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney. Houston's hard-driving coach Bill O'Brien has a winning record in preseason and faces Andy Reid, who has a losing NFL preseason record overall as well as in Week 1. The Chiefs unveil young QB Pat Mahomes as the new starter, backed up by journeymen Chad Henne and Matt McGloin. The Chiefs defense is off a terrible season, #25 against the run, #29 against the pass, and traded away its best player in cornerback Marcus Peters. They were gashed on runs inside the tackles and unable to consistently pressure opposing quarterbacks. Kansas City didn't show up in last year's preseason opener, losing at home to the 49ers, 27-17, surrendering 188 yards rushing, 246 passing, while the offense ran for 31 yards on 14 carries. They also lost in 2016 at home to Seattle in Week 1. Play the Houston Texans.
