These teams split last year's two meetings, which included the amazing comeback by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the opening week. Green Bay is 16-5 ATS over its last 21 meetings at Chicago and the Packers are 3-0-1 ATS over their last four Thursday games, and Chicago is 3-9-1 ATS its last 13 Thursday contests. Aaron Rodgers did not play in the preseason, but he played only seven snaps in one preseason game in 2018. However, Rodgers is learning a new offense with Matt LaFleur as the new head coach. Bears QB Mitch Trubisky still has a long way to go to prove he is an NFL-caliber signal-caller after throwing into dangerous coverage on several occasions last season although he was adequate enough to get the Bears into the playoffs. Chicago ranked only 21st in passing and the offense depended on the defense to carry the team too many times. That will be a problem this year as the Bears lost defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who became head coach of the Denver Broncos. Rodgers will feel more liberated with a new coach after a contentious relationship with Mike McCarthy and he still has Davante Adams to throw to after the wide receiver caught 111 passes for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2018. Also, Aaron Jones finished with 728 yards on 5.5 yards per carry, giving the Packers multiple options on offense. The road underdog gets the call here, so play the Packers.
