The Detroit Lions are looking a bit inside-out this year. They have had a strong offense for years, but just couldn't get the defense in order prior to this season. Now, this is one of the best defensive teams, but the offense ranks just #25 in the league. Without a healthy Calvin Johnson to heave long-ball prayers to, Matthew Stafford looks pedestrian. Excepting a 35-point performance in their opener with Johnson at full strength, this team has averaged just 17.5 points per game! They will travel to England where they will face a desperate Atlanta Falcons team that certainly could use a change of scenery. The Falcons have lost four straight games and have come no closer than than 10 points in any of them. This all on the heels of a 52-14 rout over Tampa Bay. This team is certainly talented and there is certainly something there - the Falcons just need to find it. They have now become an under-valued commodity with four huge losses as teams off four straight 10+ point losses cover the number 55% of the time. That goes up to close to 59% if they are a dog of less than +11.5 as the oddsmakers pad the number to get action. Atlanta is 24-14 ATS under head coach Mike Smith after a loss and 14-5 ATS after scoring 14 or fewer points in their last game. Take the points on Atlanta.
