It's just the opener, but this is a huge game for the Oakland Raiders, who are desperately trying to change the culture with the franchise before moving to Las Vegas next season. The Antonio Brown saga is behind them, giving coach Jon Gruden another reason to get off to a good start, especially against a Denver team that also is coming off a disappointing 6-10 season and has a new coach (Vic Fangio) and quarterback (Joe Flacco). The teams split last seasons' two meetings with Oakland winning the rematch 27-14 at Denver on Christmas Eve after losing 20-19 in September. The Raiders have covered the spread the last three times the teams have met, and the home team is 5-1 ATS the last six meetings. The Broncos are 6-15 ATS their last 21 versus AFC teams, including 2-8 ATS versus the AFC West and 5-13 their last 18 road contests overall. Denver has a new offensive coordinator in Rich Scangarello, but he never has called plays in the NFL. Also, the offensive line is suspect after the Broncos used all sorts of combinations there last season. This will be the last home opener in Oakland, giving the Raiders even more motivation. Play the Raiders.
