Cleveland is working in a new coaching staff with Pat Shurmur, who is also the offensive coordinator. Dick Jauron is the new defensive coordinator, switching from a 3-4 to 4-3 defense, so they have worked in a lot of changes. Like many young teams with new coaching staffs, they’ve been good at home but flopped in their only road contest, a 24-14 loss at Philly that saw them down 24-0 in the fourth, so this is their second straight road game. And even in a home loss to Detroit, the new-look defense gave up 407 yards to the Lions! The offensive line is banged-up (Steinbach is out, a pair of unproven guards have been in the starting lineup). LB depth is also a major concern and Cleveland 1-6 SU/ATS its last seven August away games. The Bears (2-1 ATS) have a good QB rotation in Jay Cutler, Caleb Hanie, Nathan Enderle, the latter a near-playoffs hero against Green Bay. The Bears have solid depth on the interior defensive line and are 2-1 SU/ATS in their last three Week four preseason games under Lovie Smith. Play the Bears.
