The reality of a six-game losing streak and a 3-7 record is a bitter pill to swallow for the Philadelphia Eagles – a team that was supposed to contend this year. Last year owner Jeffry Lurie and GM Howard Roseman assembled the NFL's version of the Dream Team, but it just never all fit together. The Eagles offense, which was supposed to rival that of New England's, has not topped the 24-point mark all season. They average just 16.2 points per game which is ranked second-to-last in the league. If things could get any worse, they did last week. With the outcome of the game no longer in doubt, LeSean McCoy was left in the backfield and ended up with a concussion. Neither he nor Michael Vick have practiced this week. So instead of Vick handing off to McCoy, it will likely be Nick Foles handing off to Bryce Brown. That didn't work out too well for the Eagles last week, as Foles threw interceptions on the Eagles first two drives. Ron Rivera and Sean McDermott both had coaching stints with the Eagles which should help Carolina here. The Panthers may be 2-8 on the season, but it has been one of the most difficult schedules in the NFL. The worst team they have faced record-wise is the 5-6 Washington Redskins, a team they beat for one of their wins. The next worst team is the 5-5 New Orleans Saints, who the Panthers also beat. All eight of their losses have come at the expense of winning teams, so they should find themselves with an edge here vs. an Eagles team that has seemingly thrown in the towel. Losing breeds losing for the Eagles as this team is now 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 following a loss. The Panthers have had success on the road at 6-2 ATS in their last eight away from home. Carolina isn’t great, but the Eagles are worse, getting outscored by 9 points per game on the season (18.3 per game over their last three). The Panthers should win this game by a field goal or more.
