Carolina at Buffalo

Buffalo threw up the white flag in the offseason, telling its fans they are rebuilding. The Bills traded their starting quarterback, changed offensive coordinators, lost two starting offensive linemen to retirement and allowed two defensive starters to walk, including their leading tackler. Buffalo's quarterback situation is a mess with A.J. McCarron, Nathan Peterman and rookie Josh Allen fighting it out. Last season the Bills defense had just 27 total sacks while the offensive line allowed 47. The 2018 offensive line has battles for starting jobs at every position except left tackle, and that will be a major problem against a deep Carolina defense that has one of the best front sevens in the league. The Panthers defense was seventh in yards allowed last year, third against the run anchored by star middle linebacker Luke Kuechly. The Panthers return almost everyone from that front seven, with a superb pass rush and speedy linebackers. Coach Ron Rivera has his teams ready to play in Week 1 of preseason, shutting down Houston last August (27-14) and winning here at Buffalo three years ago (25-24) with 264 yards passing.
