The Washington Redskins have made vast improvements on offense this year with rookie QB Robert Griffin III. They look eerily similar to Carolina last year when that team started the season with a highly touted rookie. The thing we have to keep in mind about Carolina is that they won just six games last season even with a phenom taking snaps. Washington is improved but they are also still just a mediocre team. While the offense has thrived, but one stat is very telling: the Skins are converting just 25.5% on third down. The Falcons have a much more polished QB in Matt Ryan, who has joined the elite in the NFL. Ryan enters this game with a QB rating that is tops in the league. The Falcons get 31 ppg on fewer yards, and convert 46.9% of the time on third down. A bigger difference here is the sorry Washington defense that allows more points than the offense can score, and a QB rating against of 98.54. Ryan should have a field day here, plain and simple. The Atlanta defense is also more efficient, limiting opponents to a QB rating of 66.87. What you’re looking at is a Super Bowl caliber 4-0 team that is very efficient on both sides of the ball, and is capable of more than their opponent. Like Cam Newton, RG3 is a great story, but Atlanta is the better team with an even better, more seasoned QB vs. a terrible defense. Play on Atlanta.
