Atlanta at Miami

The Atlanta Falcons head on the road winless in their first two NFL preseason games. They will play at Miami, who has yet to taste victory also at 0-2. Mike Smith appears to have no regard for these games Week 3 or otherwise, as his Falcons have now dropped seven straight preseason games, and the one with the biggest margin was Week 3. Joe Philbin in his first year in Miami has had to hold off the doubters. This game is a dress rehearsal with starters logging a lot of minutes, becoming more important to him, his team, and the fans. And at home he is going to be expected to show something, with more at stake here. One aspect of this team that has been consistent through the years is that they play solid defense at home as no team has topped the 20-point mark on them in preseason games in their last nine, where they have allowed 11.3 points per game during the stretch. In their last 11 NFL preseason games, the Falcons have averaged just 14 ppg, so their offense has not done anything here for quite some time. In their last eight week 3 preseason games (i.e. the most important ones), the Fins are 7-1 to the UNDER. Play Miami and take the UNDER in this one.
