This is a big game in the West with Minnesota in first place and San Antonio in third. Minnesota is only 2-5 against the spread when playing on one day's rest and they have plenty of reasons to be tired for this game. On Friday night Minnesota had a 97-93 overtime win at home over Atlanta coming from 20-points down, matching the biggest comeback in WNBA history. Now they head out on the road for a three-game road trip. The trip starts in San Antonio, where the Silver Stars are 9-3 straight up. San Antonio (17-10) is a talented team that is 18-9 against the spread, but riding a 4-game skid. They spent the last week watching film and taking extra practice. They got off to a great start against Indiana the last game, leading by 14, but couldn't put two strong halves together. They lost the game, but the defense was much improved. The Silver Stars are 15-6 ATS in their last 21 against the Western Conference and a perfect 7-0 ATS in their last seven Sunday games. This is also their fourth home game over the last six contests, so look for a huge effort by the home team to end the skid. Play the Silver Stars. In addition, look for a lower scoring game than oddsmakers expect. San Antonio has been studying extra film for a week to end their skid and the defense was much improved: The defense had yielded 90 or more points in four of the past five games, but they allowed 82 to Indiana the last game. Minnesota is second in the WNBA in field goal shooting defense allowing 40% and with two outstanding teams look for a playoff-type atmosphere, which means plenty of defense. And the UNDER is 20-8-1 in the Silver Stars last 29 games following a straight up loss. Take San Antonio and the UNDER in this one.
