The New York Islanders continue to play sharp defense, ranked #3 in goals allowed and penalty killing. New York is off a 5-2 win, and the Islanders' five goals were their most since the last day of November. They had totaled two goals during their three-game skid and are on a 7-3 run UNDER the total. New York also continued to struggle on the power play, with three empty chances and dropping to one-for-19 in the last five games. Goalie Jaroslav Halak has allowed just three goals on 58 shots in his last two starts, however.
