Over their last 15 games, the New York Islanders have looked like the best team in the NHL, putting together a torrid 13-2 run. Former St. Louis Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been white hot, recording a club record 11 straight wins. It has not been just luck as he has allowed just 14 goals in the 11 wins. The catch here may be the fact that no one knows his strengths and weaknesses like the St. Louis Blues, his former team, and that will certainly give the Blues some extra incentive in this contest. St. Louis is 14-6 in their last 20 games and is off a pair of distasteful losses, and I think the challenge they face here will have this team re-energized. Both of these teams can be stingy on the defensive end, as the Islanders are 6-1 to the UNDER in their last seven games, while the Blues have an 8-2-1 mark to the UNDER in their last 11 vs. the Metropolitan Division. The Blues have made the best of a day of rest as they are now 45-21 on a day of rest in their last 66, and have dominated the Eastern Conference to the tune of 44-17 in their last 61, and that includes five of their last six vs. New York. Expect a low-scoring, tight-checking war, but in the end the Blues, who have dominated this team, come out on the right side. Play on St. Louis and the UNDER.
