San Jose at Los Angeles

San Jose has a new coach in Peter DeBoer, looking to take a talented team to the next level. He has plenty of excellent tools to work with in center Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski (70 points). San Jose has upgraded its already strong power play with the addition of defenseman Paul Martin, who signed a four-year contract as a free agent. The Sharks have excellent depth and are 25-10 when playing on three or more days rest. Los Angeles had some key offseason changes, losing 2014 Conn Smythe Trophy winner Justin Williams, Mike Richards and Jarret Stoll. It is a younger team and while they add big Milan Lucic, he was a big disappointment in Boston the last three years. His 18 goals in 2014-15 was his lowest total for a full season since 2009-10 (nine). The Kings are 3-7 against the Western Conference, 2-5 versus the Pacific division, and this is an excellent spot for the undervalued dog, so play on San Jose.
