Last year, the young Blackhawks weren't ready. They were ousted by Detroit in five games. That experience helped prepare them for this year. A win today would gain the franchise their first appearance in the finals since 1992. I think they get it today. This team has been very consistent. In the regular season they averaged 3.3 goals per game, while allowing 2.5. That has exactly held in the playoffs. Meanwhile, San Jose's offense has fallen off by a half a goal per game. Chicago is simply the better team and there's no reason why they shouldn't win today. This is a bad matchup for the Sharks. San Jose has really struggled vs. good defensive teams. The last three seasons they are 4-16 vs. teams that allow under 28 shots on goal and <15% power play conversion. The Blackhawks are now 17-7 this season when facing a team at .600 or better and 24-8 vs. teams that average 3+ goals per game. Isn't it reasonable to expect San Jose to get the win here for pride? Consider that Chicago is 17-5 this season after allowing 2 or fewer goals in back-to-back games. They want to close this out and get some rest. I like the Blackhawks here.
