The New York Islanders were on a tear. They had a lot of momentum which resulted in a nine-game winning streak. That streak came to an end their last time on the ice when they dropped a 3-1 decision to Washington. A lot of times when long winning streaks are broken, a team tends to relax the following game as they are no longer fighting to keep the streak alive, and a letdown occurs. That opens the door for Philadelphia who will have a purpose of their own, to keep this game competitive.
