The Philadelphia Flyers are rested, as this is their opener. The Flyers had a terrific finish to end last year's regular season, finishing on a 15-8 run. Ron Hextall has restocked the Flyers with young talent, led by Claude Giroux (67 points) and Wayne Simmonds (32 goals), plus 19-year-olds Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny, recent high draft picks. They head to Los Angeles to face an ailing Kings squad with one game under its belt - a loss to San Jose. They also lost star franchise goaltender Jonathan Quick. The former Conn Smythe Trophy winner and two-time Olympian was placed on injured reserve on Thursday, one day removed from exiting the Kings' season-opening 2-1 setback to San Jose with a lower-body injury. Backup goalie Jeff Zatkoff steps in 29-years-old, but is 16-15 in his career. Los Angeles is scrambling to get Ontario goalie Peter Budaj to back him up -- not a good way to start the season. The road team is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings, so grab the healthy, up-and-coming dog and play on the Flyers.
