Washington has lost seven of nine while averaging only 2.11 goals per game following a 4-1 defeat against Seattle on Thursday. Darcy Kuemper allowed the four goals and Charlie Lindgren is likely today as Kuemper also was in net when New York beat the Capitals 5-1 on Dec. 27. It would be Lindgren's first game since coming off the injured list. Igor Shesterkin is probable for the Rangers with a 16-10-0 record and 2.90 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. The Rangers have hit a rough spot losing three in a row, but they still lead the Metropolitan Division and the Capitals are mired in seventh place.
