While everyone in the Atlantic Division has been wondering whether the Bruins or the Canadiens are the best team in the division, Florida has quietly won seven in a row. The Panthers are third in the NHL in goals allowed. Aleksander Barkov had two goals and Jaromir Jagr scored to lead the streaking Panthers past the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 on Tuesday night for their seventh straight victory. Roberto Luongo stopped 27 shots and the Panthers leapfrogged Montreal for first place in the Atlantic Division that night. The Panthers have won 13 of their past 16 and went 11-3 in December, the second-best record of any team during the final month of 2015. The NY Rangers are in town, 2-8 in their last 10 road games, plus 0-7 away against a team with a winning home record. Take Florida.
