The talented New York Islanders are a dog for game one, but strong everywhere with a winning record both home and away. New York is #11 in the league in goals scored behind captain John Tavares (33 goals), #13 in goals allowed with a top five penalty killing unit. Goaltender Thomas Greiss starts and posted a career high in wins (23), including a 23-save performance in a 3-2 victory over Florida on March 14. The Islanders play a speed-and-pace game, similar to that of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They face a mostly young Florida team that has been the surprise of the league. This is only the second time in 15 seasons that the Panthers have made the playoffs.
