New Jersey figures to improve on its seventh place finish last season with the addition of forward Taylor Hall. Hall didn't score in the Devils 2-1 overtime loss to Florida in their season opener, but he does have eight points in seven games against the Lightning in his career. Cory Schneider had 32 saves for the Devils on Thursday and P.A. Parenteau scored their only goal. Tampa Bay beat Detroit 6-4 when Tyler Johnson scored the winning goal off a pass from Steven Stamkos at 8:34 of the third period. Ben Bishop had 28 saves for the Lightning. New Jersey has won its last six games when its opponent scores five or more goals its previous game. Schneider is solid in goal and the Devils still have potential on offense with Hall, Kyle Palmieri and Adam Henrique. Play the underdog Devils.
