New Jersey lost a shootout to the Islanders on Jan. 7 in the first meeting of the season. The Devils get a chance for payback and to snap a losing streak tonight. The Islanders are playing a back-to-back after winning at Montreal in overtime on Monday night. John Tavares scored his second goal of the game for the game-winner and Thomas Greiss had 52 saves against the Canadiens. The Islanders have allowed 35 goals over their last eight games and Jaroslav Halak is expected back in net tonight. Halak has a 3.19 goals-against average and the Islanders have lost four of his last six starts. Cory Schneider has a 2.74 GAA and .915 save percentage for the Devils and he still has a 17-9-6 record this season. The Islanders have lost four of five when playing on no rest.
