New Jersey has hit a rough stretch and comes off a 5-4 shootout loss to Carolina on Sunday. The Devils will look to get right against Detroit, who have lost seven of its past 10. The Wings did defeat Ottawa 4-2 on Saturday, but the rebuild has hit a snag after a decent start. Ville Husso is likely in net for Detroit and he has allowed 17 goals his past four starts although the Red Wings have bailed him out scoring 18 themselves in those games. Vitek Vanecek is expected to be in goal for the Devils and he is 13-5-2 with a 2.38 goals-against average. New Jersey is 14-3 its past 17 games against teams with losing records and the Devils have won 13 of 16 on the road. Detroit is 11-23 following a win and the road team has won the past four meetings.
