The Montreal Canadiens will take the ice vs. the Washington Capitals for the first time this season. Their timing may be serving them well as the Caps are just 3-9 in their last 12 times on the ice. It has been a slumping offense that has for the most part kept the Caps out of the win column. Couple that with the fact they have yielded 36 goals or 3 per game to the opposition, it goes without saying that things have not gone well on both ends. The Canadiens have been getting nasty when they suffer a big loss by 3 goals or more, stepping up in their next game to go 5-0. Washington has tallied just 24 goals in the 12-game stretch or just 2 per contest. The Capitals have been losers of four straight vs. a team with a winning record, and are ripe to be had here. Montreal gets the call.
