After losing five in a row, Montreal has taken to the road to win three straight. They now get a Maple Leafs team that is just 13-25 on the season including 7-12 at home. So why is Toronto favored? Montreal looks like the better team with the better stats across the board. The fact that the oddsmakers have instilled Toronto as the favorite should tell you something. This is a trap game and the public is biting on the Canadiens. I am not. I like this matchup and situation for Toronto. Vesa Toskala has struggled in the net this season, saving just 86.9% of SOG. But, Montreal has really struggled against such goalies, going 4-15 on the road in their last 19 games vs. goalies saving under 88% of shots. When facing good offensive teams (those averaging 30+ shots on goal) the past two seasons, Montreal is just 27-43. The Canadiens are also 0-9 the past two seasons when playing their fourth consecutive game on the road. And, they are 13-27 over that same span when revenging a loss. I like Toronto here.
