The Edmonton Oilers opened the season at 4-2 and looked to be markedly improved on the offensive end. That was very short lived, as the offense has sputtered since. The 2 goals or more they scored in each of the first six games has become 2 goals or less in seven of their last nine. As a result, the record shows it as they are 2-7 in the nine games. That will be tough to fix vs. a Minnesota team which has allowed 2 or less in seven of their last 10 games, and has played better than they have at any prior stretch winning 3-of-5 for the first time all season. Edmonton's lack of scoring has kept them out of the win column as they are a woeful 31-77 when their opponent allowed 2 or less in their previous game, and are playing well defensively. They are also 44-92 in their last 136 after scoring 2 or fewer in their last game and that spells trouble for both sides tonight. Play on Minnesota.
