The Florida Panthers finished last season with 66 total points, and only Buffalo was worse. They have opened the 2014-15 NHL season with a very strong 10 games in comparison. The Panthers are 4-2-4 on the season, and remarkably are 2-0-4 on the road, as they appear to be a very improved team over last seasons's squad. So where have they made the most progress? The first thing that stands out is their play in front of the net and the defensive end of the ice. Florida allowed 268 goals last season, #2 worse in the league to that of Edmonton who allowed 270. The Panthers have allowed just 20 total goals in 10 games, at 2 per contest, and that keeps you in a lot of hockey games. They have been terrific over their last eight where they allowed a total of just 12, at 1.5 per contest. This team is still under the radar off a poor season, but have been in every game. They have also played 8 of their 10 contests UNDER the total, and seven of their last eight have seen no more than 3 total goals scored. The Flyers started slow, won three straight, but have now dropped two of their last three, and own a 2-7 record in their last nine when following a win. Florida has now cashed five of their last six vs. a losing team. This has been a road-dominated series with the visitor logging a 10-4 mark in the last 14 meetings. It has also played low with 9 of the last 12 failing to get to the total, including five of the last six in Philly. Play on Florida and take the UNDER.
