Edmonton at New York

New York bounced back from an opening loss to Washington and beat Winnipeg 4-1 on Sunday. They got three second-period goals from Josh Bailey, Brock Nelson and Anders Lee while Thomas Greiss had 35 saves. It was impressive in that the Jets came back from a 4-0 deficit to score five goals and win in overtime the night before, but the Islanders' strong defensive play kept the Jets in check. Mike Smith has turned out to be the starting goalie for Edmonton after it was thought to be Mikko Koskinen. The Oilers did pull out a 6-5 win over the Kings on Saturday when Smith stopped 27-of-32 shots. Semyon Varlamov could go tonight for the Islanders and he allowed two goals and stopped 28 shots against the Capitals. The Oilers are 18-46 their last 64 games as an underdog and New York has won 16 of its last 21 versus Western Conference teams. Play the Islanders.
