The Edmonton Oilers are off to a slow start. They have been somewhat snake bitten, but are more competitive than it looks, dropping one-goal decisions in three of their last five losses. The Islanders have depended on their hot offense to put games in the win column, but defensively they have been very poor. The Islanders have allowed eight of their last nine opponents to score three goals or more against them, and sooner or later that is going to come back and haunt this team. The last decade shows that when a team gives up three goals or more in an NHL contest, they win just 23.2% of the time.
