Detroit at Washington

Through eight games, the Washington Capitals and the Detroit Red Wings are deadlocked with a 4-2-2 record. Detroit has been great at killing off penalties to start the season as they started by killing off 25 straight before allowing their first power play goal. Washington has held the advantage, and one reason for their success has been their 25.9% conversion rate on power plays. I think Detroit negates that advantage here, and has a strong chance for a comfortable win. Washington has also allowed a pair of short-handed goals, so their success on one hand has been negative on another, and the way the Red Wings have staved off power plays, I think Washington has a frustrating night ahead of them. The Red Wings have a long history of coming out sharp on three or more days of rest where they own a stellar 108-49-8 record in their last 165 in this spot. This is a great opportunity to grab them on the plus side of the puckline with the numbers to back it up. Take Detroit on the puckline.
