Detroit at Tampa Bay

Detroit opens the playoffs on the road but had a great season, ranked #10 in goals scored, second on the power play and #15 in goals allowed. Detroit enters its 24th consecutive playoff appearance as an underdog, but the Red Wings are 114-51-8 in their last 173 games when playing on three or more days of rest. Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop has little playoff experience. After helping the Lightning reach the playoffs a year ago, he missed the team's opening-round loss to the Canadiens because of an injury. In fact, the Lightning were swept by Montreal in that first round of the playoffs, so they are 0-4 in their last four Conference Quarterfinals games. Take road-savvy Detroit to win game one.
